The suspect who caused an Amber Alert Tuesday involving at 15-year-old girl is considered armed and dangerous by Polk County deputies.
Alyssa Frank said she met William Mitchell, 46, on MySpace. After sneaking out to meet with him, Mitchell threatened to kill her and took her to the Alabama border.
Eventually Mitchell abandoned the girl at a Wal-Mart, but remains on the run.
“He's at large,” said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd. “We don't know where he is. We know that he is dangerous. We know he's a predator and a pedophile. We know he lured this 15-year-old away after possibly weeks of communication as it’s described to us."
Mitchell has 14 prior arrests on his record including charges of burglary, assault with a weapon, and lewd and lascivious behavior.
Deputies believe he is armed.
